Impact

By the numbers

The reason Biz Savvy Artist exists.

Our reach

2,700+creatives served since 2014
85+expert professionals engaged as speakers and mentors

The bigger picture

12%average share of revenue artists receive from their own work (Citigroup, 2018)
$17.7Btotal U.S. recorded music revenue (RIAA, 2025), most of which never reaches the artist
3.6xmore likely to be self-employed than the average U.S. worker: 34.1% vs. 9.4% (NEA)
68%of arts industries have exceeded pre-pandemic revenue (BEA/NEA, 2025)
79%of surveyed Charlotte, NC creatives said trial and error, not training, taught them to run their business (UNC Charlotte Urban Institute, 2022)

These numbers are why BSAA exists. Creative entrepreneurs are already building businesses — often without the tools, funding knowledge, or protections to make them last. Our job is to close that gap.

I've been a part of panels for years. I've been an attendee listening to panels. I know BS when I see it and when I hear it. THERE WAS NO BS ON THIS PANEL. Kimberly, you did a fine, fine job of attracting people who could speak intelligently and clearly on their subject area; I was honored to be a part of it. I believe you covered the full scope of what topics creatives need to think about in their businesses.Angela K. Durden, Second Bight Publishing
The information in the workshops were crucial to everything I'm doing right now career-wise. BOY, WAS IT A GREAT DECISION TO ATTEND BIZ SAVVY ARTIST ACADEMY! I learned a lot about copyright and trademark law from attorney Matthew Goings from Goings Legal. And the accounting workshop by LaVeda Lewis hit home for me — she had so much poignant advice that I couldn't stop taking notes! I also loved the graphic recording (an illustrated overview of the workshop) sketched by Ross Boone. Much props to Kim Fennell for orchestrating this phenomenal afternoon!Cherrie Garden, Cherrie Garden TV / Clairvoyant Pictures
